VW Bora 1.6 - 2002 Petrol?
Hi;
My VW Bora suddenly lost power on the motorway while driving at around 70MPH. I managed to get it to a lay by where the car idled fine. When I pressed the accelerator to see if the car would rev the car cut out and has not again started since...
The orange engine light stays on. The starter turns the engine over but it would not fire into life. In the 5 years I have owned this car this is the very first time it would not start.
I did get a professional opinion (I need to change the ECU and the Throttle housing/control) they were prepared to do the job for me for a mere £1600
Unfortunately I do not have this kind of money and I thought I could do this myself with help from you guys as well. Has anyone ever had the same happen and is it something I would be able to rectify myself? I am more than capable to do the work, I just need guidance on what and how to do...
I have removed the Throttle housing which was packed with dirt, this is now clean but not yet back on the car. I have bought a OBD11 Diagnostic interface but have not yet plugged it into the car. I did see a little sensor on the front of the engine which is broken and the wire hanging loose, will remove and replace this as well.
Any help and guidance would truly be appreciated.
