Dishwasher fills with water when not running?

Most dishwashers have rubber flap on pump to prevent backflow.Turn off watervalve to check solenoid leakage.Grain of sand in solenoid can cause slow leak.Recent valves cannot be stripped down so replace.Purchase general valve water entry at back and outlet straight,left or right as appropriate

If its the water inlet valve then is that a relatively easy job? I assume I will need to pull the dishwasher out to do this? It's a built in one so slightly awkward but manageable.

If its coming back from the drain is there anything I can do to stop this? The outlet hose is attached to the sink drain vertically so assume that if water fills in the trap then it could conceivable overflow into this hose. Should there be a kink in the hose to stop this?

easy test for sink draining in to the dishwasher if waste hose is connected under the sink is to remove the filter in the base of the dishwasher.dry all the water out of the sump with a sponge.fill sink to top and then pull plug.if water starts to appear in the sump, hey presto you found the issue.drain hose must go upwards first and then down to dishwasher to stop this happening

Depends on your drain system, some might me getting back from drain, when you drain from the sink maybe, other than that, yes water inlet valve leaking, replace
