how can I input my radio code in my renault clio w reg?

I had some work done on my car which involved taking out the battery, my radio has now reset, I've been givin a code, I can put in the digits of the code using my stalk control (spining the track changer to the number then pressing the button on the bottom), once the last digit has been put in and I've pressed and held down the button at the bottom it goes back to the first digit, some times it locks and says code, basiclly how do I put the full code in? Or could I have been giving the wrong one?
