Can I open the foot feed for my Paff Creative 1471?

About a year ago I started having trouble with my foot feed on my Paff 1471. My husband noticed that the little prong on the cord that plugs into the machine came out of the plug part that goes into the machine. He pushed it back into the cord and plugged the cord back into the machine which created a temporary fix. Sometimes while sewing the machine lost power and I would apply pressure on the plug the power would come back. Yesterday it happened again but this time applying pressure didn't work.

Does anyone know how to open the foot feed case to be sure the wiring is connected properly? I tried removing the only two screws I can find, but I still can't open the foot feed case. Or has anyone had the same problem as I, and what did you do to fix it?
