Glow-Worm 24ci combi bolier - low pressure!?

I have a 24si combi boiler, I tried all the above as I was having the same issues with the boiler not repressurising. I rang gloworm in the end who charged me £118 for call out, and issue was the manual filling loop tap. Apparently the older ones were plastic, but they now only use brass fitting ones. I had a whole filling loop tap and various valve replaced. Boiler works a treat now.

The plastic tube you turn for filling could be slipping instead of opening the filler valve if its not this could be the valve needs replacing

Gah! 11 months later and the reduced pressure zone valve started leaking again after topping up due to bleeding a rad. This time I will remember to let it cool down BEFORE working on it 'live' and try cleaning out the valve, instead of forking out for another new one in less than a year. Cheap nasty boilers in my opinion :-(

I had the same problem on a brand new install (not a 24 ci a newer model), just followed the guidelines and managed to get the pressure up to 2.4 (yeah I couldnt turn the valves off fast enough), but I am still getting the water drop flashing and cant find what this problem is in the manual... Anyone??

Just did mine. I turned off the blue tap. My gas fitter friend said "Oh we just do it 'live'. Have a bucket and stick your finger over the end". When I removed the brass valve body, there was a geyser of very hot water which hit the other wall and drenched me. Luckily, it wasn't hot enough to scald but not far off. She forgot to mention LET THE BOILER COOL before starting work. Otherwise, it's a 10 minute job.

I have just removed the filling tap and I had the same problem. When I opened the tap the ball was still stuck in the little hole. I poked it down and left the tap open a bit, put it back together and turned it on. It instantly re-pressurised and then I closed the filling tap. It's now all back up and running. Ireckon the ball is stuck again now though but I don't really care. May I just add DON'T FORGET TO TURN OFF THE WATER FIRST by lowering the little blue lever...I learned the hard way, by getting hosed down with a jet of water. My heart was in my mouth the whole way through but I now have hot water and heating again and the repair cost nothing so it was all worth it. Still feel sick actually.

I had this problem, didn't manage to get the pressure up at all so I have turned the boiler off but it's leaking a bit of water. Should I worry (ie. risk of gas or something else) or am I safe by having the boiler off until I get a technician?

I had the same problem,one thing I would like to add,it's called Reduced pressure zone valve(RPZ),I believe part number is 11936,refer to diagram 18.12 from the link provided.
I had to open the brass tap in half(RPZ),remove the washer then the little spring device,then you'll get to a small white sealed ball(one way system),gave it a poke as you put it and a clean,it worked.

i had my boiler serviced today and the plumber reckons the diaphram is leaking??? he said the boiler may need replacing next year if the fault continues. im shocked!!!

ive just had the same problem with a glow worm 24ci,take the front panel off,drop down the timer control board,turn off the little blue water supply tap,look at the filling valve and disconnect it by taking out 2 clips,with the tap in your hand look down the middle and you will see a white dot,poke it with a screw driver,its this that gets jammed when you turn it,after replacing do not overtighten,it did it for me,then turn the little blue tap back on.

Just had the same problem on my Glow-Worm 30cxi boiler - the boiler would not fill up with water. Needed a new plastic filling valve. Cost to repair was £15 for the valve, plus labour, so not too bad.

the filling loop valce gets stuck and needs eayther replacing of striping down and being freed i am a heating engineer and have fixed a few of these.

I have the same problem, my plastic valve on the fill tap seems to be broken and I was wondering what the brass valve is called (or a part number)? I have the 38 cxi.

Glow Worm have been most unhelpful and I cannot find the part on any sites.

The all plastic fill valve has been replaced by one with a brass spindle. I contacted glow worm help desk and they sent me a replacement free, no questions asked.

Your filling loop tap is almost certainly broken. Paul B had the same problem with his 30CXI and I've the same with my 30CXI.

The actual valve is a plastic flimsy thing which uses a 'o' ring to seal the valve. I suspect the problem occurs when the valve is turned off too tight. When attempting to open it again the plastic spindle breaks before the 'o' ring frees from it's seat.

A very bad design and clearly not fit for purpose I suspect.

I have the same problem, pressure down to 0.4 bar. My filler tap does not seem to work at all, appears to be jammed.

I have the exactly the same problem with my Glow-worm 30CXI
I tried to fill it throught the draining tap but that doesn't work, I don't get any water in trough there.
I also tried to fill the boiler using the filliung loop tap extension, but also no result.

Please advice.

The boiler is already filled, commisioned (and was in Use). It was in use but the pressure has started to decline.
