how can I fix internet explorer?

Try removing some or all extra tool bar. Several third party tool bars are poorly made and may cause many problems.
Most of those are realy useless, replicating default controlls and functionalities that you can readily access otherwise. You don't need more than 1 search box.

You may have some problem with some plugin or adon.
You may have a shortcu to start IE withour extentions.
If not, hold the Win key + R
The Run dialog appears.
Type: "iexplore -extoff" and press enter or click the OK button.
If the internet explorer works OK, it means that some extention or plugin is causing your problem.
Enable them one by one untill you find the one causing your problem.
Uninstall that component.
