how do i know if the brushes on the motor have gone?
my hotpoint aquarius has stopped working, the lights aren't flashing on the front of the machine so no indication there as to what it is. when i try to spin rinse or drain it make a weird noise, i suspect the brushes on the motor as the drum doesn't move which generally indicates the bearings. there was a smokey smell also from the back of the machine and the motor seemed overheated. please help someone :)
actually the drum does i just didnt put the belt back on, belt is fine cleaned the filter, it makes a noise when trying to rinse or spin, water wont drain, the last time i called a repair man i got ripped off, so bit dubious :(

do i take the full motor out to see if the brushes are gone, the whole drum isnt moving through any part of the cycle :)

plug out machine. then take out brushes and see have the brushes worn down to nothin. when new they about inch and a half long. k kellie ;)
