Mend Worcester Greenstar Heating Fault Light

What is wrong with my boiler? ?

Hi,
I have a Worcester Greenstar boiler fitted in 2005 The other night the boiler was making an intermitant noise like a car revving.
The next morning there was a fault light on my boiler.
I have topped up the water - but still no joy. I have hot water, but the boiler light goes on and off when the heating is on. Can anyone help?
