Whats wrong with my ford ka (3)?

if you put it in gear with engine off-what happens when you start up, does it just pull away by itself and in doing so do you have to stall it to stop it.on the other hand- with engine running ,does it grate gear when trying to select reverse! if yes to both then clutch hydraulics at fault or could be a broken spring wedged between clutch and flywheel/clutch cover.
