can anyone confirm this before i call a repairman?

when i start my diplomat 8322 dishwasher on a cycle it starts and sounds like its filling but then stops after about 30 seconds, it then makes a kind of straining noise and inside nothing is wet and only a cple cm's of water, the water in feed pipe is ok and the water drain pipe ok, im thinking faulty pump can anyone confirm
