Mend Hotpoint HSM25GFRESA Ice Melted Water

Defroster melts the ice. Hotpoint hsm25gfresa?

My ice maker makes ice. over time the defrost comes on and melts part of the ice. The melted water then refreezes and becomes like a block and doesn't dispense. I have changed the defrost thermostat and the thermistors above and below the cooling coils. could it be the fan? It does make a sound like howling? What else?
