Mend Problem Hit Light

How can I fix an electrical lighting problem?

My son whacked a daddy-long-legs last night and hit the bedroom light and managed to fuse the whole lighting system.
It is probably 70's, with red and black wiring coming through the ceiling rose. The twisty cord coming from the rose seemed damaged. The fuse had blown in the consumer box.
I replaced the rose, cord and fuse but still the whole lighting does not work. The fuse is ok cos I switched them around (5 amps). Can you please throw any light on the matter? (Sorry for the pun)!
Getting very frustrated.

It's possible if it is a 70's system the cables got damagedfurther up in the ceiling and could be crossing, or when the power did trip the switch for the light may have got admaged and blown a connection, either way have an electrician check out both or talk to someone in the know in your area, it does sound like a fairly basic problem but think safety first my friend
