lg plasma tv on button help?

hello sir, i have encountered a problem with my LG 50inch plasma television and would like some infomation if possible, when i turn on the television i press the on button and it clicks then makes a vibrating squeak sort of noise and then clicks itself off and into standby mode before the picture comes on, i then press the button to turn it off and there is no click but the standby light goes off after about a minute, when i press the button on again the same thing happens, could this be an easy solution like a fuse or maybe a faulty switch, any information would be much appreciated Tony
