Water problem with Miele W864 washing machine?

I noticed there is not sufficient water in the main wash cycle of my Miele W864 washing machine. I realise there is a water plus button but have never had to use this before and water pressure has not changed.

I also notice that I hear the water flow into the machine when the program starts but it seems to go out into the drain at the same time instead of being retained in the machine. The laundry gets wet but not enough to wash properly and not enough for the laundry detergent block or capsule to be fully used. This had ended up being left by the door in the last wash.
