lawn mower flymo turbo lite 350?

the mower adopted a fault some time ago, when we took our hands off the hand buttons the mower continued to keep going. Therefore the only way to stop it was to disconnect the orange lead. I cut the grass last week with no problem, then when we next tried to use it there was no power. We have checked all the wiring and they are all intact.
