model no VLFSM17 monitor?

on switch on, blue screen with 2" band down the middle, going about half way down the screen, from top to bottom then switches off about 20 seconds later.

Don't looks good :(
It looks like some circuits are blown. Probably almost dead.
If it's still under waranty, bring it to the dealer and have it repaired or replaced.

If the waranty have expired:
Bring it to a repair shop and have an estimation. It may be cheaper to buy a new one.
