How can I fix my Whirlpool Super capacity 465?

We just got a used Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 glass top stove. The problem is, when I'm done cooking and turn the stove off, the "hot surface" light stays on continuously, and heat comes from the oven area! Have tried running the "clean oven" cycle, to see if it would shut off after cleaning, but that didn't work. Also, when the cycle is done, the oven isn't automatically unlocking, and we can't get the burners to come on, on top of the stove. I'm having to flip my range breaker switch in my panel box after cooking, so that the "hot surface" light goes off and no heat coming from the oven!! Please help!!!
