Mend Brother 9300dx Over Locker Problem

over locker problem?

I have a 9300dx overlocker, I hvae never had any problems with my previous overlocker but the needles on this one keep breaking when i am using a thicker material adn it has even broken the needle plate any ideas (apart from the obvious and use thinner materials lol)
