zdt 5052 not draining?

i have a zanussi zdt 5052 dishwasher.problem is it starts,but when the water level gets to certain height it stops and does'nt drain the water.i took the waste pipe off the wall and it drained no problem,as i thought there maybe a blockage in the waste pipe.is there a chance it maybe blocked elsewhere,or could it be something else.

it starts its cycle,then it stops and the quick wash light flashes,and ther's still water at the bottom of the machine.i have to take the waste pipe off to drain the water

I don't understand the problem fully?
On starting a cycle the machine fills with water then the drain pump drains,then the machine fills to wash level and the wash pump starts and the heater heats the water to the correct temp.then it drains,then it rinses etc etc.which bit is your doing or not doing????
