Mend Washing Machine Soap Cycle

my washing machine leaks from just under the soap dispenser! A lot! ?

It seems to be part way through the cycle, and it leaks a lot!!

hi alex, you have a blockage in your sump hose (normally colour catchers or a sock) the water is not draining away fully so when the machine spins it forces water up the dispenser hose and out the drawer. Remove lower back panel, sump hose is large black hose at the bottom of the tub. Easy Peasy

Hi Alex. I had this problem with my LG washer. It could be a number of things but I fixed it as below.

You will need to take the cover off the washing machine. A torch may help as well so you can see exactly where the leak is coming from.

If you take the soap dispenser out and look inside the drawer compartment at the top, you should see the box with the little holes in it, that the water from the pipes sprays through. They may be blocked with lots of that mouldy gunk stuff. Note these will need cleaning and this will help, but the main check for you to make is below..

-Now, take the cover off the washing machine (unplug from mains first!)
- look at the soap box where the dispenser drawer slides into. It is probably made up of a top half clipped on to a bottom half.
- Look all around the joint - there may be crusty bits of brown - this is most likely to be the dried bits of (hard) water that have accumulated over time. If you see these it will indicate water has been leaking from the joint.
- Look all around the box to see where it is wet also - this will give you an idea of exactly where the water is leaking.
- To fix this I had to take the soap box out - unclip the water inlet pipes etc (noting where each one goes in to the soap box so you know how to out it back together again - a camera phone works well here lol). I'd put a towel down underneath where the pipes are to soak up the water as you undo pipes :)

-Take the soap box out, clean it all, dry it
-where the joins are, put a SMALL amount of silicone sealant around then clip the box back together and let it set (cure) as per drying time on the sealant tube (2hrs?)
- Whilst waiting for that, I'd also check it is clean ie wipe away any soap gunk, around the drawer area - where it slides in etc.

Then put the soap box back in, reconnect pipes etc.

Hopefully that helps and fixes the leak - it worked for me :)

Cheers
