What causes my washer to leak oil?

My wlw3600 (hot point 7 cycle washer) is leaking gearbox oil The washer works okay but the oil puddles under the machine and leaks out from under it. I took it out, turned it up to get access to it and wiped it down getting out as much oil as possible. Visual inspection shows no apparent issues. Does anyone have a likely cause and suggested fix? With its age, I am not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze to fix it. I appreciate your help.
