Mend Peerless 6-speed transaxle Gear Neutral Reverse

Peerless tranaxel problem?

i have a six speed peerless transaxle. when i put the gear selecter in neutral the transaxel is in reverse. ihave to move selecter to 1 st gear position to get transaxel out of gear??

The selector linkage needs adgusting to bring the selector to the correct position when the transmission is in the gear indicated.

It's likely that the linkage is worn, and now has excessive play in it, so it may not be possible to adjust it out without replacing some parts.
