Mend Vax 6131 Washing Fill Hoses

washing carpets?

Have obtained a vax 6131 have added carpet shampoo and added water to fill line attatched all hoses but cant get water from resevoir to come down tube to clean carpet, help have tried playing with the buttons but nothing helps
