Renault scenic misfire?

I have a 2001 Renault scenic 1,4 that misfires.If i remove either 1 & or 4 leads to the spark coil the motor stalls yet if i remove either of 2 or 3 leads the motor shudders but does not stall...Is this correct & if not then what does it mean. If i change 2 & 3 spark coils to 1 & 4 position the same happens, indicating it cant be the coils.
If the engine changes each time a coil lead is removed surely that indicates that all are good, as well as the spark plugs.
I had the misfire a week ago, changed 3rd coil & still misfired,,,put old coil back & ..fixed!!!..now a week later the same problem but with all coils good when done as above??????......is there a central coil pack..i am so confused..help please.
