i had the same problem, i found it was the PCB board that had burnt out, not the brushes or anything else, you can buy replacement PCB boards on Ebay for 60 qiud, the PCB board is on the inside left of the machine by the way, my machine was working but made some funny scrapping sounds then just stopped working, when switched on the machine shows the digital display but when you start it, it doesnt make that normal first click sound of the door locking and nothing happens as if its frozen, i hope this helps, ive owen 2 hotpoint machines and wont be bothering buying another as they are crap
