Can I repair my Rotary Elegance (vintage) watch?

Hi, one of the screws which holds the battery holding clips has sheared and i cannot get a new battery to stay in place (which is not usually a problem). The watch was a present from my wife and remains in good condition and is so classy to look at that I don't want to discard it. I would consider replacing the movement if it is possible to keep the original face and case. I could do this repair myself but would appreciate some advice first., Regards, Tony
