Mend Briggs & Stratton 6.75 Engine Lawn Mower Throttle

How can I fix my 6.75 Briggs motor ?

My 6.75 Briggs&stratton ohv engine runs wide open and will not throttle itself down. Also smokes excessively. What do I check?

Briggs & Stratton Briggs & Stratton 6.75 Garden Tools, Lawn Mowers Engine Lawn Mower Throttle

Check for binding in carb linkage.
If it is allowed to run ungoverned for any length of time it will blow it's self up. Heavy grey/blue smoke would indicate that has already happened.
