my boiler is not working right but it only seems to be on the heating heati?

hi my boiler keeps going to biler lockout but the water and everthing is working it only seems to be when the heating is on,will it be a thermister or a central heating censor

my crystal ball is playing up so i cant tell what boiler you have
so i have to resort to using old fashioned methods of asking for as much relevant information as possible
otherwise youre gonna have to cough up for an engineer visit
