Washing Machine stopped working?

Fisher & Paykel Pride 5.5 Drive 9.

Our washing machine suddenly stopped in the middle of one of its wash cycles. It then gave a beep every second, continuously, and all the wash lights (I think it was all of them) were illuminated.

I switched the machine off at the power and switched it back on again as recommded in the user manual and it was ok. But what I want to know is, is this a warning sign of something serious wrong the our washing machine?
