Mend Suzuki GS850G Bike Fine Cutting

gs850g?

bike starts fine then starts missing, cutting down to two cyllinders, have tried 4 different sets of carbs on it, it's got the CDI ignition, sometimes it runs fine sometimes it's just a pig. sometimes problem seems worse after removing and replacing petrol tank checked and replaced tap incase, also done plugs, coils, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

OK cheers, dont think i did much mate :) i know early Suzukis were known for poor electrics from new! when you say about the problem seemed to worsen when tank was removed i did think that muck in the tank was dislodged and making its way to the carbs, have you flushed the tank out?

cheers , changed carbs and now replaced pickups, and CDIunit and seems better at the minute, but will keep in mind about alternator if it happens again, many thanks ted.

Symptoms of a faulty alternator, how do you know it runs on two cylinders? and if so is it always the same two? is the wiring crushed or chafed under the tank when it's bolted down, can the battery terminals touch any metal part of the bike? Is the alternator working OK and all the electrical block connectors clean & tight.
