Zanussi wdt 1085 washer drier soap dispenser adjustment?

I took the dispenser apart as it was blocked with powder etc but when I reassembled the dispenser I noticed there was an adjustment lever on top of the diespenser which I hadnt noticed.
The lever has settings Plus to Minus 3 and seems to set the cold water fill direction in the soap dispenser which has settings a b c d and is connected directly by a lever to the cycle programmer. Does anyone know how this should be set
