Mend Zanussi Wrong Working House

What's wrong with my FX1465w?

Zanussi FX1465w door interlock is not working. I acquired this machine when I moved into my new house and it wasn't working when I got it. The door interlock would not work and would start clicking as soon as you switched the machine on, then after 10 seconds or so the End light would flash 3 times accompanied by 3 beeps. Not knowing much about these door interlocks I took it apart and saw that the bi-metal strip was not heating up and extending the locking pin thus activating the door light, perhaps foolishly I bent the strip up so that it would work. Low and behold the door lock now worked as it should and the machine functioned fine for 3 months whereupon it blew the mains RCD. Upon inspection it was found that the interlock was toast so too was the PCB, I guess my cowboy quick fix was not so smart after all, but hey it kept the missus quiet for 3 months. Not wishing to give up I ordered a new interlock and soldered the blown tracks on the board and excitedly reassembled it whereupon I was presented with the original problem, i.e door interlock not functioning just clicking without the metal strip being heated and the three beeps and flashes of the end light. At this point I assumed that my soldering job wasn't up to scratch and managed to source a cheap brand new correctly configured PCB, connected it up and guess what? same thing. So I am guessing either something is preventing power from getting to the interlock or there is a fault in the wiring to it, anyone experienced these sypmtoms before?

Tried disconnecting the plugs from the heater element, I am assuming the heater element is at the bottom of the drum above and to the side of the motor? Anyway it didn't make any difference, the machine is still doing the same thing. I have found out how to get the machine to bring up fault codes, i.e hold down start/pause and one other option button and turn the dial one click clockwise, at this point the leds should scroll. Instead my machine continues its usual process, start light flashes 10 seconds later door begins locking every few seconds and end light flashes 3 times with 3 beeps.

Ok so this evening I connected the machine up to the water supply and tried again. Still got the same problem. This is exactly what happens-
Turn the program dial to any program door light is lit straight away

After a second the door interlock click and the door light goes out, at this point the start light is flashing

If I now press the start button the start light stops flashing and becomes steady, the door locks, the door light comes on and the drain pump begins running, water inlet valve does not open however

After a second or so the start light goes out, the end light begins flashing 3 times accompanied by 3 beeps and the door interlock now begins clicking every 2 seconds

Now the strange thing is if I turn the dial but don't press the start button after 10 seconds the door locks and then the usual end light 3 flashes and 3 beeps begins. Why is the machine trying to start itself? strange.

3 flash error is a water fill time out.it has to sense a level of water within a timed period.if it doesn't up comes the 3 flash error code.

Ok I'll give that a try. I had a new development last night, the machine will now initialise as normal with the start light flashing but then after a minute it will lock the door (door light now comes on) and begin to run by itself!. The drain pump starts up but the end light then starts the usual 3 flashes and 3 beeps whilst the machine is running, most odd. I should add this is happening whilst the machine is disconnected from the water supply (in my garage presently) I guess lack of water pressure could be freaking it out.

disconnect the heating element and retry.insulate the wires so not to short them out
