Hi, I know this post is old but just had the same issue... Read all sorts of answers involving removing the back etc so I investigated a bit more and found the answer by just looking in drum! This is a very easy job that involves no mucking around with Plumbing and you can do this with the machine in place... You are minutes away from problem solved!!!!?
Tools... A torch and a hand!
1. Switch of appliance by plug pref but button fine.
2. Open door
3. Look inside and you will see 3 grey to toblerone shaped pieces.
4. Hold one of these from the furthest end ( back of drum)
and just simply pull towards you with a bit of pressure and it will pop off!
5. Remove to one side and now just use torch to use holes as access... Simples!!!
6. Bet you find more than you think!!!
Note. Be careful of element!!! Good way to see if it's covered in limescale too... I poured some viacal over mine to give isn't a new lease of life!
Good luck and donations accepted as I've just saved you a fortune!
