What do I do with worktops that have not been sealed properly?
I had Howdens worktops fitted 3 or 4 months ago. The sealant is clearly compromised as bumps have appeared along the joint. The fitter says he has used the sealant Howdens provided. Howdens blame the fitter. Neither argue there is a problem not of our making. Any ideas?
There is only one thing to do in this instance - reseal the worktop. Carefully remove the existing sealer this can be done with a very sharp blade and reapply sealer. We recommend a brand named 'BB Complete' its produced and developed especially for kitchen worktops by Bushboard.
If you take a look through our laminate worktops selection here you can find out more information on our recommendation.

I THINK you will find that your contract is with the fitter, on the understanding he supply the worktops and other materials as well as the labour? If he did then then he is resposible.
I would suggest that you get him to invite a Howdens rep to your home to inspect the "faulty" worktops, and with luck, between the three of you resolve this issue.
If a dead lock then perhaps split the cost of replacement three ways.
