What is pump run on feature on central heating?

Hi, pump over-run is a feature which allows the pump to be directly wired to the boiler so that when the burner goes off the hot water is pumped away from the heat exchanger stopping it from overheating. The can be controlled by an inbuilt timer on the PCB or an internal thermostat.
