Mend Hotpoint WF440 Washing Machine Door Lock Repair

i have a hotpoint wf440 that wont start?

hi all.
i have a hotpoint wf440 that wont start. the door locked light illuminates when first turned on, when all lights lightup, but doesnt when start is pressed.
when it first failed, the door locked light was flashing, just before the final spin cycle.
now it doesnt start at all.

any help much appreciated, i could do without buying a new one this month

tony, dont be fooled by the name i have worked for hotpoint for 10 years, might be worth checking them physically as it may be the case they are making and breaking contact with the armature resulting in flashing door lock light. If the brushes are worn excessively or if there is a broken wire at the motor harness this will result in the door locking physically but the light not staying on. Now get them checked and dont make me type so much again. lol

well, not physically, but the motor spins the drum for the 1st cycle, no warning, so i thing the motor brushes are ok.
any other suggestions?

hi all.
my mrs has modified my description!
i'm being told that the cycle starts, goes right through until the final rinse starts. then the door locked light flashes, and the machine stops.
i have cleared the filter, a floating ball type arrangement.
any further help appreciated.

if the door locks physically but doesn't light to indicate that its locked then you have worn motor brushes
