This is not for the faint hearted and probably invalidates your warranty. Model MAT 120MR although other models may be similar

Remove the battery
Make a drawing of where the 6 side buttons are located and the unlock switch.
Remove the two cross head screws near the usb connector use a fine watchmakers screwdriver, you do not need a cross head screwdriver
Prise off the cover (this is really the bottom, the top has the display screen) starting at the screw end. the cover is held with plastic clips and the last two furthest fron the USB connector need the most force. As you do this the switches particularly the lock switch may fall out, do not panic as they are easy to replace when you replace the cover .
When the cover is off the ear piece socket is exposed this has two sprung connectors that make contact with the earpiece plug. You will need to gently push them inwards slightly with the earpiece removed, use the screwdriver for this. You can then keep trying the earpiece in the socket until you have it tensioned OK.
Assembly is the reverse of above but ensure all the buttons are located in the correct positions in the sides, pay particular attention to the uncock switch as this has a slot that locates with the switch proper inside. Press the cover back starting at the end furthest from the usb connector, you must hold the two side pieces whilst you press the cover back to prevent the buttons falling out. If this works you owe me a pint the next time you are in Oldham or Rangiora.
