brake pedal to high? ford galaxy 1998?

glow light switch has comes on when moving but goes off if i slightly touch brake pedal, been told it just needs adjusting. is this a common fault and is it easy to do or am i better going to garage to get it done.

buy a worksop manual and adjust it yourself not hard to do but a lot cheaper than a garage approx 20 min job
