Philips's web site is to klunky to use :( It also seems that they dropped any support for ther mini PCs, in fact, it seems that they dropped all support for any PC line that they may have had. Very bad.

One thing that I find suspicious, is the inability to use your USB keyboards. On any system that rely only on USB input devices, it's not normal that it's unable to use one when using default settings.
Also, your unability to use several other USB keyboards rules out the option of a faulty keyboard.
Any chance using a mouse?
All this point on a faulty USB port or controller in the computer.
You are realy stuck as those ultra-mini PCs usualy don't support expantion cards, making it impossible to install things like an alternate USB card.
You are probably beter getting some real PC computer, even an outdated one.
Once you have another computer, open your freevents, get it's drive out and install it in your new computer.
Don't wory about breaking things in the freevents as long as it's not the drive.
Keep your personnal data, and any collected files. Delete the OS folder as it's no longer needed.
Keep that drive, it's still good.
