Clutch Pedal ratchet - Mk 1 Mondeo Diesel?

I am having trouble selecting gears when stationary with the engine running on my 1995 Mondeo Turbodiesel (Cable clutch). I have been told that there is a troublesome ratchet on the clutch pedal on these cars and wonder if that is a possible cause of my symptoms. If so is it a simple repair?
