replace a clutch on a 2000cc mk2 mondeo?

how can I replace the clutch on a 2000cc mk2 1999 ford mondeo with out taking the engine out or dropping the subframe

I had one and was told if the clutch hasn't been changed before then either it's a remove job or drop of subframe.
