Calibrating my printer for good quality photo prints?

Hi, i have recently bought the spyderpro 3 calibrationg software for my PC LCD, thats fine it has done its job ... But! when i print a photo that looks great when i have finished with it in CS3 it looks dull, and the shadows are very very dark, the highlights are also dull.

I believe half of it is down to low quality print paper but its plain obvious looking at the print then the same photos on my screen that something is not right.

Help!!!
