Mend Bathroom Light Replace Fitting

how do i replace the pull string in a bathroom light fitting?

I have tried to replace the pull string in a bathroom light fitting as the old one disintegrated. i took the casing off but I can't work out how the new pull string fits into the casing and where all the bits go back now I have taken them out!
Is there anywhere I can get a diagram to explain this?
