citreon xantia lx hdi 1999. estate 2 litre.engine stoped?

hello,was checking lmh fluid in xantia with body full up when engine cut out,did usaul check,fuses ect.then checked fuel filter which was passed its sell by date,so got new one and fitted,but am having trouble bleeding,engine is still turning over but not starting.[help]
