Why does the camera shut off when I take a picture?

Brand new ViviCam 12MP Camera Kit
Was working fine. Evertytime I go to take a picture and press the button to snap a picture, the camera shuts off.

Your batteries may be low,try changing them or try the camera on a mains adaptor if you have one.
