the selector rod on the top of the gearbox selector housing is bad for seizing on these and am just wondering if this has caused your cable to break,the housing is held on with six 10mm bolts,remove reverse switch wiring and breather hose and it should lift off,you can then try the selectors by hand,inside the housing are two needle roller bearings which seize up and the top oil seal which you will see when you remove the housing,have these at hand before you start the job,that is if this is your problem,worth a look,good luck
