Kenmore Ultra Wash II solenoid valve wiring?

I'm replacing the solenoid valve in my dishwasher (about 6 years old?) and in the time it took to receive the part I've forgotten which color wire goes on each prong! There is a white wire and brown wire. The white wire has red stripes on it. Seems to me the brown was on top. One prong is marked w/the letter M w/a line through it, the other is marked B4. What would happen if I have the wires switched and I plug it in? Thanks for your help--I'll be glad to get it put back together soon!
