My Honda Dylan 125 'Y reg' is back firing and cutting out when I'm taking off the revs. It also yawns and loses power when the throttle is drawn back sharply. This has been a gradual process over a number of weeks, I was waiting for the good weather, but...
I have changed the plug and dried and cleaned the coil with WD40 and what ever else I could see. It is now starting ok, but the same symptoms are returning. The spark doesnt look brilliant, but it is there, petrol too.

Thanks Adam and bb. I took the coil off and had it tested at the General's in York and he found a fault not on the coil or lead but the suppressor cap. Changed the cap and plug and ridden to Hull today without a murmer. Nice scooter..I will keep in mind the faults you mentioned and keep on top of it.

These scooters suffer from the inlet manifold rubber splitting and drawing air in whcih makes them run weak ,i would suggest checking this properly as its the most common reason for the symtoms your describing.

Back firing is ignition wd 40 helps but only if you spray on warm engine, never wet it seals in damp. I would look at your ht lead and cap and replace, may be breaking down, also rest coil and relplace if needed. No way round it but to replace parts sometimes. I would also suspect water in your carb. You may need to drain it or even strip down.
