Hotpoint Aquarius DF23P will not draw water for rinsing ?

My Hotpoint Aquarius DF23P, which is a fair age, draws water at start up ok but will not draw water for the rinsing cycle. However as soon as I turn the water supply to the machine off and then on again it draws rinsing water immediately. Any sugestions as to a possible fix would be most welcome
