Mend Briggs & Stratton Engine Lawn Mower Repair

12 hp Briggs & Stratton engine knocking?

I think my engine is going on my riding mower. It is a 12 HP briggs & stratton. It is making a knocking noise in the engine. It still runs but it is getting worse. Is there anything that can prolong the inevitable? Would slick 50 help?

If you have the engine checked NOW you may be able to get away with just replacing a connecting rod. If it's been knocking awhile, it may have already done damage to the crankshaft.
